I have a 2005 S-197 GT.  It's going to take a while to get all the mods I want to put on it but I need some suggestions.  I basically wanted to start off with rims and suspension.  For rims I wanted to stay within the 2in variance that they allow for safeties.  I also wanted wider rims in back.  I am not sure what size of rim would be the best for the intended application.  Which would be eventually being supercharged (eventually be shooting for about 500 rwhp).  For the suspension I wanted about 1 1/2 or so inch drop.  Also, I was wondering why brand of exhaust would be recommended.  I really want the whole neighborhood to know I started up my car.  LoL.  Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I would go with 20 inch bullets deep dish. Or 18 in deep dish bullets which allows decent room for lowering springs. When u lower it invest in caster Camber plates. As for exhaust I like how the s197's sounds with o/r x pipe with borla stingers. Over all its is what u like. No one is perfect and no one will judge.

You all have more experience than I do so I'm just fishing for everyone's opinion at the moment.  I appreciate the feedback!     And I'll post pics as soon as I figure out how.  LoL.

rim size for safety check no longer matters. as long as there is absolutely no rubbing you'll pass. you will have an issue with safety check for the drop, unless you can find a "mod friendly" inspection station, or get get a recon sticker. You can fit 10" wide in the rear without any issues as long as the offset is correct. 9" wide in the front will be o.k. also. I have 20x10 and 9 along with the eibach prokit with no issues. Some people swear by caster/camber plates. but after i did my drop I took it to an alignment shop (no caster camber/plates) and the car was only out by a tiny bit. The guy that did the alignment said there was lots of room to adjust.

As far as style of rim get get something you like not something your told you'll like. personally I like originality and would look for something different from what everyone else has.

Exhaust wise theres loud and theres obnoxious.... check out the S-197 exhaust thread that Gavin put up, he got quite a few examples posted. If you want loud though eliminating the cats are a must.

good luck with your build and keep us posted as it comes along

So what size rims in the front?  Would I even need to drop the car a little if I bought 20 inch back rims?

I have 20x9 in front. take a look at Gavins car with the chrome rims, those are 20" without a drop. looks good to me but I dropped mine, as I have a fear of heights...lol

LoL.  I'm afraid of being too low.  Back in the day (LoL) when I was delivering pizza in my silver 1999 V6 mustang, I got stuck on a metal plate that was bolted to the ground on a driveway.  I think it was so that the gate to their driveway only could swing one way.  One of the flanges on my exhaust got stuck on it, so I had to hold the door open, while I looked under the car so I could maneuver around it.  I still laugh at that every once in a while.
