I was thinkin about putting some black C-stripes on my sterling grey '11 V6 and with a "BOSS 227" logo.  I thought it would be sumthing coo n creative.  What you guys think?  I'm about to do it in a few months and let my boy Sean @ Auto Trim hook it up for me.

I keep tellin ya that Fords go faster with stripes, that is not why they are on all those Ford GT and Shelby Mustangs, but now even the competition Camaros and Challengers figure that they need 'em.

Of course the original racers of the past had them to note the team and/or drivers in those races at Sebring and LeMans, etc.  And then the 65 and 66 Shelby Mustangs tapered them to give the illusion of speed while on the showroom floor.

My feeling is that some models like the Boss and Shelby Mustangs have earned their stripes in the past and now the honor continues.  Bottom line: your car, do what you like.  While I see a bunch of 6cyl  Ponies with stripes, I realizre they have the dream for more performance or just like the look.

aren't the lemans stripes originally put on there to signal to the pit crew that the driver was an amateur? hmmm

no, it was the fender stripes to denote pit crew team.  double yellow was for rookies to let others on the track and the pit know that that driver did not hvae the experience and may not do what you expect seasonned drivers to do.  so be cautious and forgiving.

Rule 39: stripes on the hood should match the ones on your BVDs.

Right, Steve?

When we refer to your skid marks it doesn't mean the ones from hard braking the Mustang.  You can put them on the back of the white Fox to show that you have real pocho power to match the driver!  If you install some broken exhaust cats, you can have matching smell-o-vision.

SONICA BLU!

« Reply #26 on: October 11, 2011, 03:22:48 PM »

Maybe it's just me, but a black GT500 with no stripes would look
pretty damn good.  Rocker panel stuff looks okay tho.  Damn, Brian
that sonic blue looks awesome.  The red one looks killer too.  Now
you need a white one to finish it off.  LOL

Haha you mean my Sonic Blue!  They sold the Red one too!  Sad  Smiley But I am happy to have that Gorgeous Cobra!

Depends, but I voted yes.  Definitely not taking off my Lemans Stripes.  Now, if you have that funky looking horse head that in no way resembles the lines of the car all the way down the side of your Stang, then that's a different matter!  Or the guy on Pearl who has "Boss" hockey stripes down the side of his V6... they gotta go!
