Good info on the brakes, esp. when all the discussion about lots of go power, we tend to forget that it needs to be brought down quickly and safely.

yup that is one of the great things of what Ford did w/the Terminator - the front Brembo brakes... the Baer brakes in this set up on the T-Roush supposedly outstop a z06 from 100 mph but I haven't tested it personally....yet...  they did perform unbelievably at Fontana and got the attention of the corvette and the euro crowd...lol

It is the system that Shelby American puts on the new GT350 and the GTS upgrades, with six piston up front and six piston option in the back.  Necessary for handling over 500 HP safely.

yeah... I was lucky T-Roush came w/six piston all around....  not so fun to spend money on brakes vs power but well worth it re performance and safety imho

Absolutely!  I used to think about power, power, power...  but after a few foot-to-the-floor-this-bitch-ain't gonna-stop-in-time moments...   well, let's just say I can now stop 4500 pounds prety damn quick!  Power Slot rotors and Hawk pads up front were well worth the money...  still saving for the B Body 14" kit from Wilwood.

You need to bring that Roush down here... I wanna ride!

Yeah will do when it is in Hawaii.   For now I am keeping it on the West Coast in a friends garage to take it around to a few tracks.

Porsche out-blings all in that department with a 8 piston, 15" disc upgrade available. And don't forget the carbon/ceramic composite rotor option.
This is one area Ford really needs to stop being so cheap about. Don't forget, tires are a part of the braking equation too.

yeah good point but I don't think you will find this set up on a porsche w/12k miles on it for $25k....lol - imagine the car Ford could/did build in the 'performance' porsche price range, like the modern day GT?  maybe one day...

Aren't the Porsche 8 Piston brakes for the racing series cars and the bigger, heavier Cayennes?  Kinda overkill for the lighter Mustang, even in track use, for the T-Roush, Miller Stangs and Shelby high HP upgrades, I would think.  At this rate we can go to 10 and 12 piston systems and eventually calipers around half the rotors.  But as HP rates keep pushing the 1000 HP mark and beyond, that maybe not so strange.

You can never have "too much brakes" - especially for those moments when you want your car to STOP RIGHT NOW.

Also worth mentioning... while the slotted and cross drilled rotors look cool like dat...  the fact is, the more surface area you have the better you will stop.  If you are upgrading your brakes for your daily driver, or even your weekend warrior...  stick with solid, smooth rotors.  A really good set of pads (Hawk, for example) will help the occasional panic stop a whole shitload better than a set of the baddest (and more expensive) cross drilled ones.

If you're on the brakes quite a bit, like I am, at a track, then slotted is all you need.  Something good to get the gasses out, and that's all.  If you plan on cooking your brakes on a huge, open road course, then yes... the cooling benefits of drilled rotors come into play.  Just remember, drilled rotors are also prone to cracking under heavy use, so always check them while your cleaning your wheels.
