My car rides too soft, and bounces more than it should for my taste.

Is the suspension mounting the same for a V8 (GT, Cobra, etc) and my NON V8 Pony?

I have crawled around in the older posts here and am thinking springs and shocks are in my future. What recommendations would you all make for me?

I believe v6, GT, Mach 1 are the same

Cobras are different due to independent rear suspension.

The mounts are the same, but spring rates are different.

You don't want to put v8 springs on a v6, it'll look like a 4x4 and ride super stiff

there's h&r springs in my roomates v6. I like how it rides. I think they are sportlines? From last call racing

You're description in conflicting.  If the car is too soft, it certainly won't "bounce".  If it's "floating" and keeps going up and down after a bump, then your shocks are blown.

The springs, while doing some of the dampening, are mainly for ride height and cornering stability.  Your "ride" will have more to do with your shocks than anything.  Stiffer shocks equal better handling, but sacrifice in a bumpy ride...  you'll feel bumps in the road you never knew were there.  Softer shocks will give you that smooth, Cadillac...   I mean, Lincoln type ride, but you'll lose alot in cornering ability and keeping the car stable in an emergency.

Lincoln > Cadillac  Grin

Ummm...   LOL!  I don't think so...   CTS-V > All Lincolns combined.

True.  Wish Lincoln would turn into something like Cadillac rather than be rebadged Fords, but it does keep costs down...

The way that it rides, it has a floating feeling going over bumps and through turns. The ride is just too soft for my taste. If I am going to upgrade, I want to make sure I am going to be satisfied with the end results. Don't want to buy shocks that won't work right with different springs later down the road.

One thing I need to do is get it up on a lift and do "MY" inspection of the chassis and such. Doing this might lead me to some guilty culprit (worn out bushings, blown shocks, etc) that are affecting the ride.

I looked at the H&R springs that were mentioned. The Sport Pro set "recommends" aftermarket shocks. Just gotta get over the $125 shipping fee for the spring set. I looked at the H&R website and they have an authorized dealer on the island, Sonic Motorsports.

^^That amount of shipping is ridiculous.  Should email Emerson at Last Call Racing, he is a site sponsor and is really good about working with us on shipping.

I like my Tokico D-Specs, they are a little stiff for the roads here but handle well.
