Loud exhaust
«
on:
December 17, 2011, 06:23:41 AM »
My neighbors are complaining that my car is loud and one of my neighbor have a son who is a police officer and he would like me to do something. I had a police officer come and and tell me my neighbor a complaining am revving my engine. I told him my car was not running good at start up and needed to rev my engine to warm it up and now it running fine. The neighbors are harassing my son by starring at him because he drives that car but he not the owner of that car. They just complaining to the wrong person and also the officer don't realize that he should check the plate and talk to the right person. . I think he on the neighbors side and going by what they say it's the boy car, which is my son. Didn't get a ticket yet for the loud exhaust because I have a recon permit maybe? not sure why cops don't stop me for my loud exhaust. Can the recon permit help? I just want to know what to expect with this situation.

wow, i have 2 more mustangs that stay in a 1 block radius of me and most of our neighbors hate us and several have complained and one even threatened my one friend. Fortunately i stay on post so i don't have to deal with the hpd just the army mp haters. when they come i ask them if they know what the maximum decibel limit is and what did they have me recorded at. then they leave. and as far as the guy who threatened my buddy. karma is a b*tch.

It's difficult to get an exhaust ticket to stick if you keep cool. If they actually write you a ticket, just take it to court.
Or buy your own DB meter. I think the limit is 80. But if your outdoors your reading will be low. Test it out and play with it before you try to give it to a cop.
What's your exhaust setup? As long as its not dumps or straight, your recon permit might help.

I was looking it up and actually in Hawaii the law states that any exhaust mods that increase the noise of the car above the stock db is illegal, it's an old law but it's still active yet a lot of officers and courts either don't know it or just don't care to enforce it. Then penalty is no less than $25 but no more than $250 per offense.

just try driving it normally, no excessive revving, shift at or below 2500 rpms.
even a loud exhaust can be manageable if you drive it within reason.
just tell the neighbors you fixed it and its more quiet now, and drive it slow.
what do you have on your Mustang now that makes it loud?

Just my two cents, at least go with LM2. You still get the straight through flow, but it takes out some of the higher tones. It'll get alot deeper.
IMHO I like my LM2s alot better then my LM1s. After I did my cam on my fox the LM1s were just too much.
With an auto...yeah...your car is crazy loud.
