2011 Mustang 5.0 converted Boss 302

Email
« on: January 19, 2012, 09:47:06 AM »

I am in the market for a supercharger for my 2011 5.0. It has been converted to a Boss 302, but I am willing to loose the Boss intake if the horsepower and performance is better. Anyone have a suggestion on weather to keep the manifold and put a procharger or just get the whipple roots style supercharger. I also have a goal of reaching 800 hp when all is said and done. Which configuration would better suit my ultimate goal? Also which shop would be the best bang for the buck to get this done at around Ewa Beach?

I would go with Whipple.
Instant power.
800 is a nice goal to have, but having something reliable is more important to me.
Will this still be a street car?

Yeah I know it sounds funny, but it will still be my daily driver when I cannot ride my CBR 1000 RR

800 rwhp could put you in the 9's easily depending on the rest of your car.
On the street you'll barely use 500.
But having more than enough is always fun.
If it will see mostly street time and some track time and money is not a limiting factor,
I would go with a Whipple 2.9L.
stop lite to stop lite power.

I had a twin screw and now a centifical. No contest, go with the twin screw. I also agree with Gavin, the 2.9 makes great power but I'm partial to the 3.4's.

Thanks for the responses. I think I am leaning towards the twin screw then. Guess I will just have to put the boss 302 intake on my wifes F-150 which has a 5.0 in it. lol She will like that. Thanks guys

I'm just not sure about the kits available for the Coyote.
I would go with a 3.4 too if its available. Or bigger. Grin

for instant power definitely a twin screw! though centris generally are not as had on a motor just because it takes a bit for them to get into boost. They usually start building around 3k rpm or so. centris will also be more streetable for the same reason, especially if yor goal is to hit about 800hp!! good luck with the build looks like fun!!

Thanks guys! I hope to make my goal of 800hp. I already replaced the old 5.0 for the fully forged internal boss 302 crate engine... so wd will see where it take me. Lol plusmy wifes 2011 F150 with the 5.0 will scream with that boss intake on it.

Whipple for sure on the Coyote 5.0.  Well tested.  Any plans for the driveline, rearend, brakes and suspension to go with the extra power?  HP alone won't do it.  BTW, in case you have not heard, we do not have a paved race track on this island and the speed limits are the lowest in the nation (no 65 MPH highways).  So 800 HP will be good for show, just not for go.

 Cool

Lol. I guess it will be good for bragging rights then. As far as mods. I have 3.73 gears. Brembo brakes. Suspension is ford racing. I plan on getting an aluminum driveshaft. Did I hear you correctly? No drag strip and speed limit is less than 65 mph. Sad

Yep. There's a few guys here that run regularly and swear buy it. I've gone once and loved it, just don't have the time to go again...
