I am going to put new shoes on the pony before too long. I currently have the stock 16's on it with 225/55/16s.

I see rims for sale all over the place, but they are 17's or 18's. The ads list 18x9, pattern size and a bunch of other numbers. I have no idea if they will fit my car.

Is there a website or something that I can use to figure out what will fit my car?  Huh

What other problems would I run into going to a larger rim/tire combo?

Your bolt pattern for your stang is 5x114. Americanmuscle will tell you which offset is best for your stang. Hope this helps.

get a rim that is made for your mustang
you can get common sizes from american muscle, or other websites
usually if its from a similar model year Stang, it'll fit.  as long as its not something real crazy like 325's or 30" tall tires.

look at the outer tire diameter.
if it is the same as stock, no need to adjust the speedometer.
if it is different you will need a tuner to adjust the speedo.

is there a particular set you are interested in?
if so post the link and we can see if it'll fit.

if you're in no real rush, i may be selling my FR500's and Nitto 555's in a couple months or so.  cheaper than anything you will buy new online.

I like the Cobra and Bullit style rims.
