T/A and PHB are on my dream list of mods.  You should do one event before the install so you can tell me (or my wife) how much SAFER the car is to drive with those parts.   Grin

That's the same reason I give to my girlfriend Nate..lol!!  then i proceed to show her how it handles without it..lol and say, see how unsafe dat is??.. lol.

we should get a group though seriously and try it out.  i've been wanting to do this for quite a few years now but never did try it...

This is SCCA autocross right? Would be cool for the club to show up - isn't a helmet required? or is that for the other classes?

A good (set of) driving/race seat(s) should also be on the parts list. IIRC, Camaros have some kind of torque arm as OEM. i'd like a Watt's Link, tubular K, tubular suspension/coilovers, Cobra brakes, torsen LSD, a manual trans....  Roll Eyes

yes this is a SCCA event and helmets are required.  Camaros from the factory have a panhard bar or something like it that centers their solid axle much better than the factory mustang crappy 4 link setup..

Glad to hear you came out.  Too bad you couldn't come back on Sunday... the course was alot of fun and VERY challenging.  There are about 8 of us from PCHIH that race, and we'd love to see more domestics out there.  I've been asking people to come out for some time now, and I'm glad to see there are a few more mouthpieces joining the recruitment.

Next race is September 9th.  If you never raced before, show up between 0600 and 0700 and grab a "walk in" spot.  Then, reg your car, drive it in the pits, get it tech'd and go have fun.

I highly suggest wearing shorts, closed toe shoes, a hat, and sunscreen.  You will need a helmet and class/numbers.  You will be given a chance if it's your first time, but after that, you will be expected to get magnets.  Contact Advanced Graphics or Avery (on FH) to purchase them - they run $30-40.  Cheap compared to what you have into your cars.

Also, if you're gonna rent a car to race at SCCA, I highly suggest the Shelby Mustang... NOT the convertible V6 - LOL - I hope to see you guys out at SCCA.  As I've said, it's the most fun you can have in your car with your clothes on!!

Hey, Ried!  No offense, but everyone makes an ass of themselves their first time out.  No one expects anyone to do good until they have a few races under their belt.  The type of car you drive helps (Gus got 2nd and 1st his first two races - damn race-prepped Vipers!), but for the rest of us mere mortals, SCCA is the Great Humbler.  No matter how many times you've played Gran Turismo, the real thing just ain't the same...  LOL  Hope to see you out there soon!

Your car should be fine with whatever setup you have now.

Believe it or not, tires are what limits most cars.  The factory set up on the Mustang coinvertible I drove wasn't nearly as bad as the tires (620 treadwear - OMG!!) I was driving on.  I didn't finish last, but I was close.  Got smoked by an old lady in a new beetle on r-compounds...  LMFAO!!  But although this is hard to accept, learning autocross on STREET tires is the best thing you can do.  Coming from a "slicks is a must" mentality of drag racing, that's hard to grasp, but believe me, learn on the DOTs for about a season or more, THEN switch to Rs and watch your times soar!

Everyone there is VERY helpful, and no one will tease you your first time out.  They save that for people like me who have been there almost 2 years and are STILL slow!!  LOL
