Title: Ford F150 SVT Raptor site
Post by: hi5.0 on May 06, 2009, 05:39:47 PM
Here's a site for the truck fans!

http://www.fordvehicles.com/f150raptor/

Supposedly the 6.2L V8 BOSS engine that will be available in this truck is now rated by Ford at 500hp? If that's true, then they just kicked the "LS-what!?" to the curb.

Anyone know anything about these? I am going to be in the market for a new truck when I get back from overseas....

They're available here. IIRC, the 6.2 SOHC V8 is optional, the 5.4 is standard. That 500hp rating was for the "R" version (racing). Be prepared to pay big bucks (almost GT500 prices).

They are truly built for off road, 1 ft of travel in the shocks...they drive terrible on road.  If you want a 4 door performance truck, I recommend a used srt 10 w / low miles, say around $27-30k...if you're ok w/ single cab, I am really happy w/ my roush nitemare, can get used low miles around $30 k.

McKenna's has sold a few of them this year and last with the different engines.  Not comfortable for commuter use.  Killer performance off road.  Best possible use is for our wonderful pot holes or neighbor islands.

You might as well get a '01-'03 F-150 Harley Davidson.  The only difference with the lightning's motor is the upper blower pulley and tune.  Just swap out the upper pulley to a 2.75", get a SCT/Predator tune, and you're good to go.  And I think the HD's interior is nicer too.

I also like the new Raptor's interior.  Black w/ chrome trim.  Now they have a crew cab version this year.  Saw one at Cutter Ford-Aiea.

The super charged Harley and roush 4 door trucks are heavy, and are slower than a stock v6 camry.

i like the off road capabilities. You know... for when the zombies come.

As long as the zombies aren't driving camrys you'll be fine...

Nice truck but slow...

Shoots, that IS slow. The lightning was 13 stock wasnt it?

High 13s stock, into the low 13s/ high 12s w/ minor mods...it is alooooot lighter.  I don't like the srt 10 either, but it is the only viable performance 4 dr truck.

It was never intended to be a drag race truck.  That's like taking the Lightning off-roading at the Baja 1000 and saying how poorly it took the jumps.

that is a valid point from a theoretical perspective, but, most raptors and especially the ones I've seen on Oahu, will live 99% of their life on paved roads...I think those owners will be a little disappointed in the camry-esque 0-60 times.  Just my $.02 on a very expensive vehicle.  Yeah, if you live near Baja and take it there, great!  If not, not...

same applies to SUVs in general and a bunch of lifted trucks out there - sh!+, most of those have cleaner chassis than most cars on the road and they're driven like they're low riders when it comes to bumps and other imperfections on the road :fag:
except the SVT Raptor is the real deal as far as capability - proven in competition per a SVT engineer: (quote taken from another forum)
"Team USA Dakar Raptor finishes the 2011 Dakar Rally!!! The world's most grueling race lasting 16 days and 9500 km it looks like they finished 40th overall and WON the OP class making them the first American team to ever win a class in the Dakar Rally. Unbelievable. Production vehicles don't really even enter this race let alone finish it let alone win their class...so proud of them and the truck!"

No doubt it is great off road....but it sucks on anything close to paved....and is slow as hell...and costs $50k before dealer markup...lol

I agree it is a pricey vehicle and will mostly be driven on the street.  Most people who buy and drive Raptors will probably not buy a Lightning, Dodge v10 or other speedy truck.  I don't think that person is looking for 0-60 performance.  I do think it looks pretty good and performs off road.  This is its intent.  Would I buy one?  Not sure.  I wouldn't mind a truck, but not for $40k plus.  I wouldn't pay that for a nice diesel truck either.

Yeah, I hear you, but I think those owners will care about 0-60 performance when they get smoked by a camry at a stoplight...

You're in love with 0-60 aren't you? lol
Title: Re: Ford F150 SVT Raptor site

It sure would suck to pay $50 k for a truck w/ svt on the back. And get smoked by a camry.  0-60, 1/4 mile, any way.  If you take it off road, cool....if not....pretty funny.  The raptor is a sloooow vehicle, regardless of price or size.  If svt wanted to go in this direction they could of bought the hummer brand....lol

I just thought it was funny that you relate everything to speed even if that is not the intended purpose. Maybe everyone should own only Camrys or Terminators.

John Coletti would put a pallet of dog food in that truck...but hey I admit it looks good off road, and parked....

Ps, I sold my termi, but yeah, it was pretty good esp for the msrp $35 k and $18 k 7 yrs and 24 k miles later....we'll see how the raptors values hold up, my guess is not well

Who knows about the value.  I think the new mustangs are a pretty good value for the performance, don't need 92 octane, n/a engine, etc.  Holding value; we will see.

Raptor updated for 2012. Less jumping around after a bunch of idiots bent frames going "blind" on high speed off-road runs this year.

I'll be honest.  I friggin love the raptor.  Had it in the air and mud with 400 miles on the odometer.

Drives great on the street.

Towed like a dream all the way to Florida from Ohio.

Ran down the dragstrip smooth as pie!

congrats on the '11 time - that is incredible!

I'm sure you already saw the episode, but the Velociraptor was pretty impressive on the US Top Gear last year -

http://www.hennesseyperformanceblog.com/tag/velociraptor/

kind of reminds me of the hard to find Joe Gibbs Edition supercharged H2 Hummer - there is one for sale that is kind of tempting...

ROUSH® Performance returns to the truck market with the 2013 ROUSH OFF-ROAD F-150 SVT Raptor. The 2013 ROUSH OFF-ROAD Raptor features the new Phase 2 Supercharger Kit for the 6.2L engine that produces a whopping 590HP and 590lb-ft of torque. That’s a gain of 179hp and 156 lb-ft of torque over the factory base performance!

"It’s great to be back truck game again," said Tim Wheeler, VP of Sales and Marketing of ROUSH Performance. "The Raptor is an outstanding truck to begin with, add a ROUSHcharger and things only get better!"

The ROUSH Phase 2 Supercharger kit is designed to work with 2011 to current F-150 6.2L V8 powertrain, as is standard in the Ford SVT Raptor. At the core of the ROUSH Phase 2 system is the R2300 Supercharger featuring Eaton’s TVS® technology rotating assembly. Combining the Eaton TVS internals with a ROUSH designed supercharger housing, unique intake manifolds, high-flow fuel injectors, oversized air-to-water intercooler system, cold air induction and a ROUSH-engineered EO-level calibration allows the ROUSH system to squeeze maximum horsepower and torque out of the base 6.2L-V8 while keeping factory drivability and durability.

Additional OFF-ROAD powertrain equipment include a dual tip, rear exit, performance tuned, cat back exhaust system that flows more air that stock and creates a throaty exhaust rumble that will make others envious. The pipes are muffler are made from high grade 409 stainless steel and polished from the muffler back. The tips are made from 304 stainless steel and are chrome flashed instead of chrome plated as conventional chrome plating uses layers of bonded chemicals to achieve its shiny appearance, which are susceptible to cracking and flaking especially when exposed to high temperatures (like exhaust). However, the chrome flashing used in this system is bonded micro-porously to the metal surface, and is as a result impervious to cracking from localized damage. This method of chroming is also resistant to heat color change.

Interior upgrades include ROUSH embroidered leather headrests, a ROUSH vent pod and ROUSH LED lit boost/vacuum gauge. Exterior branding consists of a front "ROUSH" windshield banner and the "ROUSH OFF-ROAD" Bed Decals for this off-road ride. There are also optional equipment available including "splash" side-bed graphics and a ROUSH branded Revolution soft tonneau cover made by ExTang.

The 2103 ROUSH OFF-ROAD package is a non-serialized vehicle but still comes standard with ROUSH’s 3-year / 36,000 mile complete vehicle warranty. Please consult your local ROUSH Dealer for order information
